Oct 4 Tiny friends, tiny homes

While some of us have spent this last apocalypse year growing out our beards and cultivating our gunty pannus, my young whipper-snapper pals, Mark and Larlene, constructed an entire tiny home. In fact, they constructed an entire big home too. I just never posted this tiny-home-in-progress article Mark sent me a year ago when my mind was cryogenically frozen. Now that it’s thawing, I shall offer you some drips of their millennial achievement below. The good news is that my laziness in posting their article means you can hopefully binge read about the multiple cool shelters they built sometime soon.

For now, you will just have to quench your Mark and Larlene thirst with this teaser below. I can’t wait to find out what these two kooky kids will get up to next.

Trendy Asphyxiation Box (part deux)

All good stories begin at the end; however, in this case it wouldn’t work because my wife and I are probs dead from our oxygen-consuming propane heater going full bore that very first night (that or her farts).

Regardless, to make our non-moveable minivan livable we got around to having the place sprayed with insulation to keep us protected from the coyotes, and the cold.

Once that was taken care of we needed some interior siding because apparently living with sprayfoam is not trendy… yet. Because we are cheap as skates we used stuff that the Help had lying around his numerous sheds. Hence we have a stylish interior mixed with unfinished wood clapboard (hello splinters!) and (actually magnificent) cedar planks.

I tell anyone who compliments my bold style choice that I saw it in one of Lady Nest’s Spanish ADs I read while I pooped at her place that one time I invited myself over (to poop).

This is what the aforementioned pre-cut siding looks like after I nailed them (and some fingernails) to a wall of our ribbed pleasure palace.

Installing 4 whole pieces of gyprock is tougher than it sounds. Elegant strugggling would have described it perfectly. Window and door casings had been done at this stage. I didn’t know what a casing was before this picture, and honestly still don’t. No, that is not the entrance; it’s half our fucking cottage.

If you don’t agree that the coolest object on Earth is a large pick up, just stay out of our way, and lives for that matter.

Only Southerners have plywood floors so we opted for some vinyl flooring. We really wanted that loft cement floor look because it really marries well with the forest and nature and the total opposite of cement.

Here’s that adulterous oak counter I cheated on my wife with.

We finally banged up some shelving for our Noah’s ark of cutlery and crockery (2 of everything), and threw a bed frame with internal shelves on the opposite wall, and bob’s your uncle. Live wood edges or death!
